Projects emphasizing Forest City's creative mixed-use expertise include University Park at MIT, a $650 million biotechnology campus adjoining the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Central Station, an 85-acre hotel, residential, and retail development in Chicago's trendy South Loop; and the rejuvenation of three historic theatres on New York's renowned 42d Street.

Examples of Forest City's high-rise work include the 52-story New York Times Headquarters Building, planned in close cooperation with development authorities of the city and state of New York, and the 1920s-era Terminal Tower complex — the firm's headquarters — redeveloped with the City of Cleveland to include three million square feet of new office, hotel, shopping, and transit facilities.
