 Our Company
During the warmer months, Forest City | Boston programs an exciting array of outdoor activities at University Park.

Past summer events have included:

Al Vega Quartet
The history of the New England jazz scene is neatly summarized in the person of Al Vega. He calls his early period "the days of the seventy-eights" (he celebrated fifty years of performing in 1991), and he's still the area's foremost jazzist. He's worked opposite virtually every name in American jazz — including Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Young, and Billy Holiday — and has shared with them Boston's legendary jazz rooms: The HiHat, Storyville, The Ken Club, The Jazz Workshop.

North Shore Acappella
For the last 19 years, the five voices known as North Shore Acappella have entertained thousands of listeners throughout the Boston area. Appearing on the Landsdowne Quadrangle, this award-winning group entertained the University Park community with a fresh repertoire of popular hits from the last four decades. Further information on this exciting vocal ensemble is available at www.nsa-singers.com.

Equinox Music Festival Finale
The Equinox Music Festival is a tribute to music pioneer John Coltrane and other legendary performing artists. The seven-day event concluded with a free concert on the University Park Common featuring the Boston Jazz Repertory Orchestra, the Mike McAllister Group, Mohammed Kalifa Camara and Koliba Jazz, and Barry Crimmons as host. The Children's Museum of Boston was also on hand with activities for the kids. Information on other festival events is available at www.jcmcsite.com.

The Brown Bag Opera
Forest City hosted "Dynamic Divas: The Great and Not So Great Women of Opera" on the University Park Common.

35 Landsdowne Street Opening
Forest City | Boston and Millennium Pharmaceuticals held grand opening festivities for 35 Landsdowne Street, the newest biotech facility on the University Park campus. Invited speakers included U.S. Rep. Michael E. Capuano, Cambridge Mayor Michael A. Sullivan and City Manager Robert W. Healy, and top officials from the Millennium and Forest City team. The event took place on the Landsdowne Quadrangle.

Summer Bash
This buffet lunch was a benefit for "Bridging the Gap," a prevention/ intervention program sponsored by the Salvation Army that provides teenagers with the skills for positive and successful decision-making. The benefit included door prizes and a DJ.

Steel Band Panorama
This event is part of Cambridge Carnival International, one of the largest multicultural festivals in New England. Following a Mardi Gras-style parade down Mass. Ave. , steel bands from Maine, Connecticut, and Massachusetts performed on the University Park Common and were judged on their renditions. Information on other Carnival events is available at www.folksites.com/cambridgecarnival.

Ice Cream Spree
Celebrate summer with icy treats from Herrell's, a much-loved Massachusetts tradition with a devoted national following. Newsweek magazine called Herrell's "a mecca for ice cream lovers," and USA Today named it one of the top ten ice cream businesses in the country.

Gamelan Galak Tika
Named for the spirit of "intense togetherness" in Old Javanese, this intriguing group performs traditional Balinese music and dance and develops new works by Balinese and American composers.
