Gayle Blakeley Farris, President of the Boston office of Forest City Enterprises, a real estate development firm, will host a fundraiser at her home at 119 Main Street in Charlestown on Monday evening September 22, 2003, from 7pm – 9pm. If you would like to attend please contact Lily Chou at 617-914-2507. A minimum contribution level of $100 is appreciated, with all proceeds to benefit the Boston GreenSpace Alliance.

“I am delighted to welcome supporters of the GreenSpace Alliance into my home and Forest City is excited to join the legions of supporters for this noble cause,” said Farris. “The preservation of Boston’s parks and green spaces is an issue of the utmost importance as we begin the new century and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of the initiative.” “Several Forest City developments commit land to the creation of parks and open spaces in an effort to establish a pedestrian-friendly environment and reach out to the surrounding neighborhood, as well as promote a welcoming and comfortable gathering place for the community.”

Invited guests for Monday’s event include a host of Boston’s political community including U.S. Congressman Michael Capuano, President of the Boston City Council Michael Flaherty, Boston City Councilor Paul Scapicchio, State Senator Jarret Barrios and State Representative Eugene O’Flaherty.

The Boston GreenSpace Alliance, a 501(c) (3) organization, promotes stewardship of our natural resources, educates the community about the importance of neighborhood parks and ensures the accessibility of Boston’s open spaces. The Alliance believes all people are guaranteed the right to feel safe, welcome, and connected to beautiful parks and green spaces, and strives to connect people to their neighborhood, city and regional parks through advocacy, education and planning.
